Friedrichstadt

At Easter we took out our car and drow over our country from east to west. From Kiel to Friedrichstadt it's about one and a half hour.
Friedrichstadt was founded by refugees from the Netherlands and that is to be seen in the architecture as well as in the streets.

On the marketplace is an old water pump, where once the inhabitants got their fresh water.

Those are typical houses. There are town canals (grachten in Netherlands), on which tourist boats cruise on summer days.

At one Toivo found something interesting.

Sheep! Well, there might be more sheep in North Friesland than people.

What else is typical for the Netherlands? Yes, tulips! Toivo, keep your hands off!

Those refugees had to leave their homes because of religious differences. They were Mennonites and Remonstrants, here they found freedom to live after their believe. They were important for North Friesland, because with them came new technologies especially in dike construction. That's what's called Win-Win.

In front of a Cafè Toivo found a new friend. The guy was holding the flowers beside him.

We had some cake and coffee, because walking through towns makes hungry.

On our way back we met  even more - yes, sheep.
An then Toivo fell asleep on my lap. Had been a loooooooong day.
