Visiting Denmark - again

Almost every year we spend at least one week in Denmark. Since some years we have a small local bureau for holiday-homes, with a very good service and very good prices. It was time again to go there. Autumn at the North Sea is always wonderful, with the sea and the waves, the wind and the heather.
I had Aava, my sea-fairy, and Inkeri and Sirpa with me. Toivo always enjoys staying home with Sooty, I don't know, what the girls are doing with him when I'm not looking.
Anyway, the three girls were sharing a basket on the drive, giggling and telling themselves stories. Aava told them stories of sea animals and sea flowers. Our house was on the southern peninsula of the Ringköbing Fjord. First thing after unpacking the car and buying food and drink and such, was going to the beach.
Aava couldn't expect to get to the sea again.

It was very windy and even behind the dunes we could hear the breaking of waves.

Climbing over the dunes brings us to the beach. The dunes are quite high and protect the land behind them. It is therefore forbidden to leave the paths and trample down the beach grass.

Here we are! Wind and water welcome us! Aava was feeling so at home. She was SINGING! I had never heard her singing before. A very extraordinary experience...

There must be Gauls on vacation, too. This fish says: Unhygienix was here...

The next morning Inkeri found a promising path right beside our house.

But it was still too early, so she and Sirpa inspected the main room.

"Is it a good view from up there?"

"It is sooooo high up!"

"And you are so far down!"

After breakfast it was time to explore the path which leads to the forest of adventures.

They looked like Hansel and Gretel. Only without the breadcrumps.

How exciting to come from the sunshine into the shades between the trees...

Sirpa: "I wonder if there are creatures living in this forest."

"What do you mean? Which creatures shall live here?"

Sirpa: "I don't know. Fairies maybe. Or dwarves. Or wizards. Magical creatures."

"Where are you running to?"

"I don't want to meet magical creetchures. I am afraid of weedchez catching us."

But the open heather didn't feel any less magical than the forest did...

especially when Inkeri saw those strange red mushrooms.

And Sirpa was sooooo far away. So Inkeri hurried back to her braver sister.

While Inkeri was trying to hide under a tree from all the witches that might be living between the trees,

was Sirpa climbing up to watch out for one. "I'm going to catch one."

"Weedchez! Where are you? Come heeee-here!"

Sirpa preferred to cuddle up in my arms. Meeting a witch, not knowing what she might be up to, was more than she could bear.

Later in the day we decided to go to the beach again. Inkeri refused to follow us. She preferred to hide inside.
But Sirpa wanted to see the sea.

She was sitting on my hand, still on the watch for a witch to catch.

It was very windy, so it was no idea to set Sirpa down on top of the dune. She would have been sandblasted in no time.

Sirpa was totally impressed by the waves and the wind. The wind was actually so hard that it blew her over two or three times. It was good that I could hold her.

"Can you set me down? I want to feel the sand!"

But that was no good idea. Her wig was blown off her head and rolled over the beach. We could only catch it by chance.

"Pheeew, that was tight. Mom, the wind is getting cold."

So I put her into the inside pocket. I took of her wig to keep it save.

When we came back, Inkeri had changed into her pajamas, dragged out her blanket from the basket and cuddled into the corner of the big couch.

After the cold wind Sirpa found that a good idea. The rest of the afternoon they sat and played with their dolls.

But magic was to be found, for sure.
