Birthday trip to the beach

Today is Toivo's birthday. He's living with for one year now. We will have a little party on the weekend, but to celebrate his special day we made a trip to the beach. We left Sootie behind, and Aava, too. But the big children went altogether.

Everyone's ready? Warm pullovers, shoes?

Yes. So let's go!

The sun was shining and the wind was neither strong nor chilly. At least not yet.

"Happy birthday, Toivo! It was a great idea to make a trip to the beach!"

"Thank you for the birthday wishes. There will be a party on Saturday or Sunday, but I wanted to spend this day with something special."

"And the weather is so wonderful. I love being at the beach."

"Me, too. There is always somethhing interesting to see and to do."

"I like watching the ships best. There are always some big ships around."

So they chatted on. But just sitting and talking gets boring for children after a while so we went to the small playground.

The swing was entered.

Then they discovered the eider ducks. So we went allong the beach.

Toivo found an interesting driftwood.

Inkeri looked for the ducks and Sirpa for mussles and marine snails. Or at least their shells.

That is really an interesting piece of driftwood.

"I'm gonna take it with me."

"The ducks are coming. Look! I think they want something to eat."

They expected us to feed them, but that we didn't.

I took aerial photographs of the interesting landscapes: rivers and canyons.

An oystercatcher was looking for a meal.

We then went to the sailing harbour. The ships were still on land, but some owners had already started to work on them. Soon they will be back to the water, sailing over the fjord.
While Sirpa enjoyed the sun, Toivo talked to Inkeri about sailing and seafaring. And sea rescue service.

We saw the small rescue boat. There is a bigger one on the other site of the fjord, in Laboe.

Then we found beautiful crocusses.

Here is a view over the sport harbour. It was build for the Olympic Games 1972. Here the competing sailors lived.
It went chilly with the sun hiding so much beton and I had to go to my appointment. But we enjoyed the weather and had a wonderful time.

  1. Hi Anja!
What a wonderful weather you had for Toivo's birthday. I enjoyed the story and the photos. The Crocus looked so pretty too, isn't it wonderful how they just pop up when Spring arrives?
    Hugs,

    1. Thank you, Xan! Crocusses are so tiny and so precious. Spring is my favorite time of the year, I love that fresh green and all those tiny flowers. They are so brave. We'll have to go to the Botanical Garden, if the weather gets good the next week.
      Hugs,
      Anja
